Plantar Fasciitis

What is Plantar Fasciitis?

Plantar Fasciitis is the inflammation of the plantar fascia - a flat ligament that runs along the bottom of your foot from the ball and cups, up around your heel.

Repetitive stresses to the ligament from running, jumping (basketball, volleyball, tennis), standing on hard surfaces with non-supportive shoes, flat feet, and being overweight can cause some or all of the ligament fibers to tear.

Other common foot conditions like, flat feet, tight heel tendons and high foot arches can contribute to plantar fascia injuries.

Tears in the ligament will show redness, swelling and heat, and can be very painful depending on the severity.

Some people report an intense sharp pain at the heel when they get up in the morning or if they stand up after sitting for longer periods.

    Treating Plantar Fasciitis:
Discontinue the action or cause of the stress to the plantar fascia is the first thing to do. Reducing the pain and inflammation is the next.

Rest your feet as much as possible. If the pain and inflammation is severe in the initial stages, you may need to ice the ligament to help control the swelling.

We recommend using Prolotex™ Infrared Therapy Socks to reduce inflammation and foot pain, like Plantar Fasciitis. The infrared rays emitted from the bio-ceramics does help to reduce pain and swelling and increases circulation where it needs it the most.

Prolotex™ socks are nice and soft against your skin, making them an ideal treatment for ligament tears and injuries.
