Bursitis Foot

What is Foot Bursitis?

Bursitis is the term given to the inflammation of small sacs (called bursae) of synovial fluid.

These small sacs act like a cushion between two bones and allow tendons and ligaments to slide smoothly over the bones.

Inflammation of the bursa sacs can be caused by wear and tear, repetitive stresses, injuries, and just plain old age.

Patients often describe the ailment as "a burning sensations on the bottom of the foot".

Degrees of pain and swelling may vary depending on the severity.

Most often the bursitis will form at the underside of the ball of the foot, the bottom of the heel, and at the back of the heel, where the Achilles tendon runs over the heel bone.

Treating Bursitis in Your feet:

Try to find ways to help reduce the pressure points that is causing the bursitis. Investing in shoes and shoe insoles that have more cushioning for the bottom of your feet will help to take the load off the forefoot.

If you think the bursitis is caused by repetitive stresses to the foot, try to rest the foot, or at least reduce the activities causing the stress.

Prolotex™ Socks have a nice, soft cushion design for the feet and have been shown to provide protection again pressure points. The infrared rays emitted from the bio-ceramics in Prolotex™ Infrared Therapy Comfort Fit Socks are very effective in reducing inflammation, making them the perfect socks for treating bursitis.
